Description | A woman's hand appears to have exploded in a cloud of smoke. But look closer and the 'smoke' is revealed to be scratches on the glass door from the diamond rings of the parfumerie's customers. The curator Mark Haworth-Booth believes that with this image, Lee achieved 'the 'convulsive beauty' identified by André Breton as the hallmark of surrealist art'. |
